Summary
This book is an excellent appraisal of the realities of machine warfare. Quite simply, the best introduction of which i am aware to the concepts of JFC Fuller’s “expanding torrent” theory of strategic exploitation of surprise, rapid tactical maneuver, and deep penetration of the enemy lines to “defeat the mind of the enemy through confusion “. Wheldon’s insights are underlain by his experience as a British tanker in the North African Theatre of War.
