The author takes the reader briefly though the history of both Rome and Carthage and their attempt to establish superiority over each other. The author provides an incredible amount of detail about the inner workings of both the Roman system of warfare and the Carthaginians. All in all this is a wonderful, informative book with an excellent overview of Hannibal’s war with Rome. This should be a must read for any history buff.
