Summary

This book is a very thorough and well researched story on the most highly decorated unit of its size in the US Army. It is basically the history of the 442 Regimental Combat Team and the 100th Battalion. These young men were Japanese-Americans, or Nisei, that enlisted in the US Army following the attack on Pearl Harbor. It shows the adversity they faced at home and on the battlefield. Remember also that Japanese-Americans from the West Coast were sent to relocation camps, because the government did not trust them. In 1943, that same government sent recruiters into those camps looking for volunteers to join the Army. The governments sole condition was that they could not serve in the Pacific theater. The Nisei, went on to earn 9486 Purple Hearts, 4000 Bronze Stars, 560 Silver Stars, and 21 Medal Of Honors.

Notes - Slight wear and tear on dust jacket. Some writing on inside flyleaf.
